Caring for Your New Piece
Original Hardware strives to use the highest quality materials available. With a little care, your piece should bring you joy for many years to come!
Original Hardware uses many materials (pearls, leather, as well as minerals like turquoise and colored stones such as chalcedony) that are sensitive to cleaning solvents.
It is not recommended that you clean your OH designs with traditional jewelery cleaners or expose your pieces to beauty products such as soap, moisturizers, hair spray and perfume. In addition, showering and sleeping in your jewelry can also cause damage to stones, metals and leather--it is best to take them off before getting ready for the day and before going to bed at night.
To clean, simply wipe your jewelry with a soft polishing cloth to shine and remove dirt gently.
Some gemstones are more sensitive to sunlight and heat. Store your jewelry away from sunlight to avoid heat damage and color fading.
Owners of wire-wrapped pieces should use caution when adjusting a stone that has been wire wrapped. By bending a wire wrapped piece frequently, the wire could weaken over time and ultimately break. And we wouldn't want that to happen!
